Leiden felt to me like Bruges to Colin Farrell. Well, I haven’t shot anybody and I was not haunted by the past and my boss, but still… Sorry Leiden. You’re so scenic, so venerable, so neat, so tidy. So sleepy. But also: so foggy. Oh sweet!
Fog and the night have a lot in common since they add an extra layer to reality while erasing others. Consequently, I strolled through Leiden in a foggy night to catch and depict the combination of both. It was a Thursday night, the streets were almost empty and the fog-night seemed to double the sounds of my camera and my paces. I almost felt like an intruder or a soon to be caught culprit.
But this might have also been the aftermath of three days NICA Winter School on “the (il)legalities and the politics of life after dark”.
