While Germany is still hangovering from the unbelievable football match, I’m on my way to Liverpool to present my results at the British Society of Criminology Conference. The title of my talk is: “Bouncers as watchmen and challengers of metropolitan security”. I’ll speak about the sometimes antagonistic interests bouncers have to deal with, how they keep trouble away from the nightclub, themselves and non-involved guests, and how this affects public space. My research goes public, wooohoo! Hopefully, I might be hangovering in some days, too.
A nightlife researcher never sleeps. Being super serial at daytime, I’ll hopefully get the chance to explore Liverpool’s and Manchester’s nightlife – for the sake of science of course.
